OPENING BELL
New York City Department of Transportation to Highlight Summer Streets Initiative
New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg will ring the NYSE Opening Bell® to highlight its Summer Streets initiative.
About Summer Streets
Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City's most valuable public space—our streets. Summer Streets, held the first three Saturdays each August, provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. More than 300,000 people are expected to participate this summer along seven miles of Park Avenue from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Summer Streets 2015 concludes tomorrow, August 15, and DOT looks forward to it returning for another three days in 2016. CLOSING BELL
Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra Highlight the 10th Anniversary Jazz Age Lawn Party
Michael Arenella, headline musician and founder of the Jazz Age Lawn Party, along with representatives of His Dreamland Orchestra, will ring the NYSE Closing Bell® to highlight the 10th Anniversary Jazz Age Lawn Party season, which takes place August 15-16 from 11a.m. to 5p.m. on Governors Island.
About the Jazz Age Lawn Party
The Jazz Age Lawn Party is New York City’s original prohibition era inspired gathering. Hosted and conceived by Michael Arenella, the event started as a small gathering of perhaps fifty friends and fans. The event, initially produced by the island, was handed over to Michael in its third year to organize and grow. The Jazz Age Lawn Party offers a magical opportunity to travel back in time. Two weekends a year, guests are invited to discover and experience one of the most colorful and formative epochs in American history. (Source: Jazz Age Lawn Party)
